Ranthambore National Park Map

Ranthambore National Park around 170 kilometer from Jaipur and well connected with Indian railway lines, nearest railway station is sawai madhopur which is around 14 km from the main entrance of the Ranthambore Park. Sawai Madhopur railway station is one of the best India’s railway stations which are decorated by wildlife paintings. It is situated in southeastern Rajasthan India.

Ranthambore National Park situated at the boundary of a flat terrain and is surrounded to the north by the Banas River and to the south by the Chambal River. The Park named after the significant Ranthambhore castle, which is located in middle of the park. Ranthambore was established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in the year of 1955 and in 1973 it was declared Tiger project by the Government of India. Ranthambore acknowledged a National Park in 1980. Adjacent forests of Ranthambore were declared the Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary in 1984. In 1991 Sawai Man singh and Kela Devi sanctuaries incorporated in Tiger Reserve and its area has extended.

Thus Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is spread over around 1700.22 sq km area. Ranthambore National park is known for wildlife Safari tour in Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH) and it has around 1113.03 sq km area, while Ranthambore National Park covers an area of 282.03. According to the guidelines, only 20% part of the Critical Tiger Habitat (CTH) is open for Ranthambore Jungle safari. The critical tiger habitat of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR) is split in two equal-sized divisions. One part is the Ranthambore division, where at present the tiger population is booming, while the other is the Kailadevi division, which has no resident tigers.

Ranthambore National park is famous for its Royal Bengal Tiger and it is one of the best wildlife destinations in Rajasthan India. It is well know park for best tiger sightings and to see wild mammals in their usual forest habitat. The major attraction of the park is Tiger and one can see of this beautiful animal in a daytime, although it is believed that best time to visit Ranthambore National park is month of November to March. Ranthambhore National Park is woodland of deciduous forests. Often this type of the forest found in the central of India. Besides of the Tiger there are other many wild animals found inside the park including Leopard , Jungle cat , Caracals, sloth bear, hyena , wild boar , Sambar deer , spotted deer, blue bull, chinkara, black face languor and lots of birds. The Park is also home of the wide diversity of plants and trees.
